Repair of Your Instruments?

Our repair service offers you a fast and efficient means of  restoring your damaged instruments. We are offering the finest repair and sharpening service for all kind of surgical instruments, regardless of make or brand. All mechanically sound instruments can be restored to near new condition. Our repairs are comprehensive, for instance;

SCISSORS

For us this is not just a simple treatment of the  cutting edges. Shanks and blades are aligned, screws reset, weak screws  replaced, blade insides receive a new hollow-ground, then the edges are  sharpened at the correct angle of 75-80°, with a special grinding disc made of  silicone carbide to avoid steel burning. The scissors are completely refurbished, cleaned and checked for a good cut. A new hollow-ground is important for a smooth cut. Some inferior brands may have pinned and flattened screws, or are just riveted, not allowing the scissors to be dismantled for  proper sharpening.

Check the sharpened scissors on a piece of gauze and see the difference!

NEEDLEHOLDERS with Tungsten Carbide  inserts.

Worn or cracked TC inserts can be replaced in almost all brands, except Aesculap. We use only German made inserts of the highest quality. After the bonding process the jaws are perfectly aligned, spring tension and box lock checked, shanks and ratchets realigned. Then the instrument  is fully refurbished, all spots and stains are removed.

Your needleholder is gripping like new.

OSTEOTOMES CHISELS and GOUGES

When cutting instruments become dull or have nicked  edges from use and handling it is time to send them to us. We have the proper equipment and the experience to do a professional job. Your osteotomes, chisels, gouges or sharp elevators are sharpened in 3 steps:

Starting with a rough grinding on a special silicone carbide disc (to avoid steel "burning"), then the medium and fine grit done on a  belt grinder, always trying to maintain the original bevel or angle. Finally the  edge is honed on an Arkansas stone to remove any burs and to give the instrument  the "sharp touch" required by the surgeon to do a good job.

Try the sharpened osteome or elevator on a piece of  nylon or teflon, or simply on your fingernail, you will feel the  difference.

All repaired instruments are fully refurbished, all spots and stains removed and a mat finish will be applied to the  surface. Replating of chipped or peeled instruments is not recommended, as it is not possible to guarantee goad results on exposed, pitted  or oxidized surfaces. Every effort is made to put your instruments back into good working order, but do not expect miracles in respect to inferior makes.
